Spectacular 19th-century English sculpture of an elephant in finely worked silvered bronze, surmounted by an obelisk in natural malachite. The work is richly decorated with inlays of exotic and precious materials, such as red coral, mother-of-pearl, fossils and other carefully selected natural elements.
Below the elephant is an engraved inscription: "Published by John Blakeway May 28, 1832", attesting to its origin and date of publication.
