Portrait Of A Man From The Restoration Period
Artist: Jean-françois Boisselet (1810-1889)
A beautiful portrait of a man, dated 1838, by the painter Jean-François Boisselet, a student of Louis Hersant. He exhibited at the Salons of 1834 and 1850. He is buried in Montparnasse Cemetery. The sitter's identity is unknown. With his long hair, clothing typical of the Restoration period, and an intense yet dreamy gaze, he embodies the romantic man of that era. He could very well have been part of George Sand's circle. The oil on canvas is in very good condition. Unframed.
