Black Ink, Brown Highlights On Paper. Marcel Gromaire 1951.
Artist: Marcel Gromaire
Nude in black ink with a few small brown highlights, executed in pen by Marcel Gromaire (1892-1971). The work is very characteristic of his style. A painter of typical subjects—nudes, portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, mountain landscapes—he also designed tapestry cartoons, was an engraver, draftsman, and illustrator. A Post-Cubist, he is obviously very well-known and has a very good body of work. Signed and dated lower left. Our drawing is in good condition, with only a very small, barely visible rub on the forehead. Dimensions (unframed): 32 cm x 24.5 cm. Very well framed; provenance (frame label on the back): Galerie du Cadre, rue Delcassé, 75008 Paris. Dimensions (framed): 48 cm x 40 cm.
