Large Blown Glass Chalice, 18th Century - Royal Margeride Manufactory? 18th
Important glass chalice with a circular bowl attached to a very wide foot, its stem formed by four superimposed double discs surrounding a hollow baluster. Period: probably the second half of the 18th century. Despite the prohibition against using glass for sacred vessels, this rule was often transgressed. The material shows signs of early deterioration and a slightly pinkish tint, possibly reminiscent of the typical deterioration of glass from the Royal Margeride Glassworks. However, to my knowledge, no other example of such an elaborate piece is attributed to it. Height 21 cm - diameter of the bowl 9.5 cm - diameter of the foot 16.2 cm.
