Full-length scene of the Crucifixion of excellent quality, presented in an antique mother-of-pearl frame. Professional cleaning would particularly enhance its appearance. Provenance: Old Masters Sale, Christie's, London, stencil number 964RD. Private collection, London, old chalk inventory marks on the reverse. Note: This composition is probably inspired by van Dyck's works on the same subject, of which he produced several versions, including one painting in the Carmen Thyssen Collection, Madrid [CTB.1995.26], another in the collection of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Antwerp [406], and a third in the church of San Zaccaria, Venice.
