Art Nouveau Vase – J. Massier Fils, Vallauris
France, ca. 1890–1910
An elegant ceramic vase with a metallic lustre, crafted by the renowned French manufacturer J. Massier Fils in Vallauris, a leading figure of the Art Nouveau period. The piece features a slender silhouette with a slightly flared base and a tall neck ending in a refined wavy rim, reflecting an organic and dynamic aesthetic.
The surface is embellished with an extraordinary iridescent glaze featuring golden, bronze, and shimmering reflections, achieved through complex luster firing techniques. Against this luminous background unfolds a decoration of stylized floral motifs, with sinuous foliage and tendrils that envelop the body of the vase in a continuous flow, evoking the idealized nature typical of the period.
Marked on the base “J. Massier Fils Vallauris,” confirming its authenticity and production between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
