P. Mola, ‘Resting Scene, Landscape with Horsemen and Herds’, oil on canvas.
A work attributable to the Genoese school and the followers of Pier Francesco Mola (1612–1666), a master of the Italian Baroque. The painting, an oil on canvas measuring 97 x 74 cm, depicts a scene with figures at rest set within a sweeping Arcadian landscape. The scene is enlivened by shepherds, herds and a dog, elements that lend it a bucolic atmosphere typical of the 17th century. The work is in good condition and is set in a back frame with a wide gilded wooden moulding, dating back to the 19th century (external dimensions 111 x 87 cm).
