Pair of polychrome glazed ceramic stools from the Bien Hoa kilns in Vietnam, early 20th century. They rest on a base in the shape of a stylized elephant, a symbol of strength and wisdom, finely modeled and enhanced with a rich floral relief decoration. The body is adorned with brightly colored decorative panels. The flared top allows for both decorative and functional use. In good overall condition except for a small chip and the missing piece of horn (see photo).
