Large Louis XIV Candelabra (56 Cm)
An important and beautiful candelabra in chased and gilded bronze, with five lights. The candle cups are decorated with friezes of post and scale patterns, on sharply curved arms adorned with acanthus leaves and lambrequins, joined in a bulb decorated with female faces surmounted by bursting shells and swags of lambrequins. The candelabra rests on a baluster-shaped shaft with canted sides, decorated with antique profiles in medallions surrounded by bursting shells, Bérain motifs, and passementerie. It terminates in an octagonal base with stepped pedestals decorated with Bérain motifs and gadroons (minor wear and alterations, drilled for electricity).
