Regency Console In Carved Oak And Royal Red Marble, Early 18th Century
This Regency period console table boasts a very rich carving.
It is made of carved oak surmounted by a thick royal red marble top.
It rests on two powerful, sinuous front legs, their curves and counter-curves carved with palmettes and acanthus leaves, joined by a substantial stretcher with a scallop shell motif.
The apron is adorned in the center with a shell and acanthus leaves across its entire surface.
The oak carving is very deep and richly detailed.
The royal red marble top is quite thick, 4.5 cm, and features a beautiful molding around the edge.
Our console table most likely comes from the Liège region of Belgium.
It is substantial and exudes great presence.
The wood appears to have been painted in the past, with traces of paint visible in the reliefs.
The marble is original, though it shows some very old damage to the back edge.
Regency period, early 18th century.
Delivery in a wooden crate on a pallet by carrier to your ground floor (bulky packaging). 250 euros in France, 600 euros in the EU and 1500 euros in the rest of the world.
