A Superb Twenty-Four-Light Gilt Bronze and Baccarat Crystal Chandelier, c. 1880
This exceptional chandelier, in the pure Louis XVI style, is distinguished by its finely and richly chased gilt bronze, enhanced with a sumptuous period gilding. It features twenty-four candle arms arranged on two tiers, adorned with delicate vegetal motifs: branches, fluting, and foliage. The central stem, also in chased and gilded bronze, harmoniously complements the ensemble.
The crystal decoration, of remarkable quality, is signed by the prestigious Baccarat Crystal Works. It comprises a multitude of elements cut from pure white crystal: octagons, rosettes, stars, mirza, plaques. An elegant cut crystal bell completes the chandelier, adding a touch of refinement.
Beautiful French chandelier from the late 19th century (circa 1880), this chandelier combines exceptional craftsmanship with timeless elegance.

History of Baccarat
1764: King Louis XV grants Louis-Joseph de Montmorency-Laval, Bishop of Metz, permission to establish a glassworks in the village of Baccarat in Lorraine.
1824: Ismaël Robinet, a Baccarat glassworker, invents a piston air pump that facilitates glassblowing. The following year, Baccarat develops the pressed-molded glass technique.
1855: Baccarat participates in the first Paris Universal Exhibition, showcasing monumental pieces including two candelabras and a chandelier of extraordinary dimensions.
1860: On October 29, Baccarat registers its trademark with the Paris Commercial Court: a decanter, a wineglass, and a goblet inscribed within a circle. Initially printed on a paper label, the stamp is later directly engraved on the pieces.
Baccarat crystal is renowned for its exceptional quality, containing no less than 31.7% lead, and is crafted to the highest standards, free of any defects. This commitment to excellence defines the manufacture.
The Baccarat Crystal Works has endured through generations, remaining a symbol of the French art de vivre.
