Vicente Cristellys was a Spanish figurative painter, born in 1898.
He is known for his paintings depicting typical Spanish themes, such as gypsies, fandango dancers, and bullfighting scenes.
His style is characterized by broad, bold brushstrokes and the use of bright, vibrant colors. In addition to his painting career, Cristellys was also a renowned poster artist.
He is notably responsible for the poster design for Charlie Chaplin's film "Monsieur Verdoux" and a portrait of actress Gina Lollobrigida in the film "Notre-Dame de Paris."
Vicente Cristellys died in 1970, leaving behind a body of work that testifies to his attachment to his Spanish roots and his integration into the 20th-century Parisian art scene. Period: Mid-20th century.
