A beautiful Aubusson tapestry that has retained very fresh colors and is in good condition despite its 300 years.
Note that the bottom border is missing and there are a few openings in the design.
In the Old Testament, Ahasuerus, King of Persia, having divorced his wife and captivated by Esther's beauty, takes her as his new wife and crowns her queen. Later, she saves the Jews of the empire from death through her intercession with the king. This episode is celebrated during the Jewish festival of Purim.
