Art Nouveau Butterfly Brooch In Yellow Gold, Carved Jasper, Baroque Pearl, Emeralds And Diamonds.
A charming Art Nouveau butterfly brooch crafted in 18 karat yellow gold, dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century, circa 1900.
The wings are beautifully carved from banded jasper, displaying natural striations in warm shades of brown, red and beige, creating a vivid and lifelike effect. They are mounted on a spring-loaded articulated mechanism, allowing gentle movement and enhancing the naturalistic character of the jewel.
The body is formed by a lustrous baroque pearl, accented by two rectangular step-cut emeralds.
The head is highlighted by two small ruby-set eyes, while the antennae terminate in old-cut diamonds set in delicate navette-shaped motifs.
The brooch is fitted with a safety chain.
A refined and expressive jewel, perfectly representative of the naturalistic inspiration of Art Nouveau jewellery at the turn of the 20th century.
