Portrait Of A Man, Flanders, 17th Century
A Rembrandt-esque portrait of a man by a Flemish artist of the Dutch Golden Age. The sitter poses in three-quarter view, holding a scroll, his gaze directed at the viewer, against a backdrop of a half-open curtain. The painting boasts high pictorial quality, with magnificent detail and a subtle treatment of light, characteristic of painters in Rembrandt's circle. It is in excellent condition (we have had this painting cleaned) and has been relined. It is presented in an antique giltwood frame (late 18th century). Dimensions: 73 x 60 cm overall, and 68.5 x 53 cm without the frame.
