Beautiful used patina for this hand drum collected in the Murik Lakes area in Papua New Guinea. Entirely engraved with tribal designs depicting ancestors, plants, and totemic animals. The handle is finely crafted and features two faces, half-human/half-bird. Hand drums, or "kundus," are highly symbolic for the Papuan people as they embody the voice of the ancestors and are therefore difficult to acquire. Wood. Signs of use. Sold without skin.
