Pair Of Silvered Bronze Candlesticks, Louis XV Period, 1745-1749
A pair of Louis XV silvered bronze candlesticks, the curved stems with canted corners mounted on ogee bases, hallmarked with the crowned C mark of the 18th century. Each candlestick is hallmarked with the crowned C on its base. Designed under Louis XV as a tax hallmark, the crowned C also became a hallmark of quality and date for collectors. Used between 1745 and 1749, it appears to have been stamped only on the finest bronzes. Height: 25.5 cm; base diameter: 13 cm
