Marble sculpture representing "Night," one of the four famous allegorical figures sculpted by Michelangelo for the Sagrestia Nuova of the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence.
This one, along with "Day," adorns the tomb of Giuliano de' Medici. The female figure reclines in a melancholic pose, resting on a volute-shaped architectural base. The sculpture incorporates the classical iconographic attributes that identify night (crescent moon, star, owl, mask).
A beautiful and refined decorative object of great finesse, in good condition with a lovely patina. Height: 25 cm,
Length: 23 cm
Width: 10 cm.
