Baroque Fir Mirror Italy Mid 18th Century
Mirror made in the Baroque period in Venice in the mid-18th century. A small table mirror with a removable support slat on the back, the half-round frame is shaped along the cymatium and completely painted on an ivory background with floral decorations and small landscapes with houses in shades of green, red, and blue. Mercury mirror, and part of the antique hand-painted paper is still preserved on the back. The frame's paintings are partially worn away by the wear and tear of time.
