Solid Oak Wedding Chest Of Drawers – Louis XVI Period
A Louis XVI period wedding commode in solid oak, opening with four drawers arranged in four rows.
The front features finely carved decoration: a frieze of pearls, laurel wreaths centered on the drawers, evoking a lucky charm (clockwise rotation). Delicate florets emerge from the drawer bases. At each end of the drawers, baskets surmounted by two doves pecking at each other recall the symbol of love and union.
The front and top are made of medullary oak, the finest and most sought-after part of the wood. The drawer pulls and keyhole escutcheons are in period bronze.
The front legs are adorned with three flutes, with reeding at the base, and decorated with ears of wheat, symbols of prosperity.
The commode is in very good condition. Please note: the two rear legs have been grafted over an old period, with a height of approximately 3 cm (signs of wear).
