E. Drouot Bronze "arab Plowman"
An important bronze group with a nuanced brown patina depicting a lively Orientalist scene, by Edouard Drouot. The beautiful horizontal composition shows a caravan on the move, composed of a laden camel, guided by a donkey ridden by a draped figure, accompanied by a young porter pushing the team. The whole realistically and dynamically evokes a travel scene, with a naturalistic and energetic treatment of the animals (tension in limbs, elongated necks) and a richness of textures (the camel's coat, the braiding of the ropes, the folds of the fabrics). The main figure is dressed in a full cloak and wears a hat. The finely worked base simulates uneven ground and contributes to the overall sense of movement. The signature E. Drouot is in relief on the base. Period: late 19th - early 20th century. Material: bronze with a nuanced patina. Length: 80 cm. Height: 33.5 cm. Depth: 15.5 cm. good overall condition
