He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jules Lefebvre. He also frequented Fernand Cormon's open studio in Montmartre. Antoine Guillemet trained him in plein air painting (notably in Barbizon). Lefort-Magniez was deeply influenced by the Impressionist exhibitions held during his studies. He enjoyed a successful career as a landscape painter. Coming after the great battles of Impressionism, Édouard Lefort-Magniez found his canvases accepted with less difficulty. He incorporated and developed the discoveries of his predecessors. He was accepted at the Salon in 1904, received his first medal in 1907, and was awarded a gold medal in 1913. Initially thick and powerfully colored, his palette softened towards the end of his career, becoming illuminated by pastel hues. The Third Republic made him a Knight of the Legion of Honor. He died in 1934. Find us on Instagram: mon_futur_anterieur and on our website antiquites-monfuturanterieur.fr
