"Louis Antoine Retru Painting Female Nude Oil On Canvas"
Large oil on canvas depicting a nude woman reclining in the grass. The artist, Louis Antoine Retru (1865-1951), born in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme), was a student of Jean-Léon Gérôme. He debuted at the Salon of 1887 and regularly exhibited his works in local shows. He was a member of the Auvergne Academy of Art and a professor at the Clermont-Ferrand School of Fine Arts. He executed frescoes for the Clermont-Ferrand Opera House and his work is exhibited at the Mandet Museum in Riom. Dimensions with frame: 108 x 55 cm. Without frame: 95 x 42 cm. Very good condition.
