Large Art Deco bronze sculpture with a brown patina depicting a draped nude woman on a 4 cm thick Portoro marble base. Some chips to the marble. Circa 1925. Signed R. Rivoire. Raymond Léon Rivoire (1884-1966) was a French sculptor. A student of Injalbert, he made his debut at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1905. He won a silver medal in 1921 and a gold medal in 1929. He exhibited in France and abroad (London, Rome, Buenos Aires). His works are held in the Louvre, Newark (USA), and Cusset museums. His pieces are quite rare on the market. He is listed in Jean-Charles Hachet's illustrated dictionary of animal sculptors.
