Antique Gilt Mirror with Carved Pediment – Napoleon III Period – 19th Century. Dimensions: H 123 x W 76 cm. Superb antique mirror in the Napoleon III style, richly decorated, dating from the late 19th century. Description: Elegant rectangular vertical mirror, framed with a rich carved and gilded wood decoration. The openwork pediment, particularly elaborate, features a significant rocaille decoration composed of scrolls, foliage, flowers, and floral motifs in relief, typical of the Napoleon III style. The frame is finely decorated all around with floral friezes in relief, with carved spandrels at the lower corners. The antique gilding has a beautiful original patina, with shades slightly browned by time, giving the whole piece a great deal of character and authenticity. The glass appears antique (slight marks and pitting of the silvering are visible depending on the angle), which enhances the charm of the piece. Good overall condition. Wear, minor losses of gilding, and visible signs of age (see photos). Some alterations and soiling on the pediment. The mirror's silvering is slightly pitted in places. The structure is sound and stable. Item sold as is, as shown in the photographs. Characteristics: Period: late 19th century. Style: Napoleon III / Rococo.
