A dedication is visible: "To Madame Bayard..." Louis Minet (1841-1923) was a renowned Norman painter and former curator of the Rouen Museum. A genre and portrait painter, Minet excelled at capturing the refined atmosphere of the bourgeoisie. His portraits are distinguished by a great softness in the modeling of faces and a particular attention to textures. On display at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
