Each bowl bears a label reading "Ca Mau – Binh Thuan, Sotheby's – Unicom" and other references written in ink.
The Ca Mau was a Chinese junk sunk in 1725 off the coast of southern Vietnam, carrying over 130,000 pieces of porcelain from the Kangxi and early Yongzheng periods.
These pieces were made in Imperial China (some pieces bear the mark of the Yongzheng Emperor) and were intended for the European market, traded by the British East India Company or the Dutch East India Company.
Fishermen discovered the wreck: 130,000 pieces were recovered, and approximately 76,000 pieces were sold by Sotheby's Amsterdam in January 2007.
The set is in good overall condition; one cup has been restored, and there are minor cracks at the bases.
