His career began in Dieulefit in 1946, where he discovered ceramics. He studied at the Vierzon school and worked as a ceramic engineer in Lunéville-Saint-Clément. In 1950, he settled in Vallauris, a renowned ceramics center, and founded Les Archanges with his wife, Lilette. Valentin was a key figure in the renewal of forms and decorations in French ceramics, and he collaborated with numerous artists, including Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau.
