Pair Of 19th-century "caquetoire" Armchairs

Pair of Renaissance-Style "Chatterbox" Armchairs – Late 19th Century. A pair of trapezoidal armchairs. These narrow-backed chairs feature two outward-sloping armrests. The baluster legs are turned at the front and square at the back. They are connected by three crossbars. These "chatterbox" armchairs, the first armchairs equipped with armrests, designed in the Renaissance style, have a rather modern shape today. This type of seating was intended for women who wished to "chat," that is, to converse. The fabric is in fair condition. Dimensions: 56 cm long x 90 cm high x 43 cm deep
