Sculpture Depicting The Bust Of A Man

Ancient sculpture made entirely of terracotta, depicting a half-length portrait of an elderly man dressed in an ancient tunic. The sitter's expression, as well as the deep folds of the tunic, are skillfully reproduced by the artist, leaving nothing to idealistic transfiguration and faithfully conveying the visual impression of a person at the end of his years, etched on his face by the inexorable passage of time. The drapery has a strong plastic connotation, given the strong chiaroscuro effects visible in raking light. The bust of the elderly man ends at the bottom, resting on a circular pedestal that gives the whole a measured momentum. Material: Terracotta.
