"Figurine Of Pierre Alexandre- Duke Of Buckingham 1592-1628"
Figurine by Pierre Alexandre, circa 1930-1960, made of sheet metal and lead. This renowned figure sculptor spent some thirty years depicting French history, from Vercingetorix to Napoleon III, through figurines in lead and folded sheet metal. His works included the kings and queens of France, famous figures, the Napoleonic Empire, its generals and marshals. He had a particular fondness for the 17th century, particularly the street vendors of the Pont-Neuf, and clearly a dislike for doctors and priests, whose portrayals are often caricatured. His high-quality and hard-to-find pieces hold a certain charm for those interested in French history.
