A rare and precious book of secrets for the cabinetmaker and the dyer, in two works combined into one volume from the reign of Louis XV, dated 1771; Volume I, in 12mo, full mottled calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt tools, red ochre morocco title, marbled endpapers, red edges. Bookplate with the arms of the Count de la Verrière; library of the château (ink stamp on the title). Illustrated with a folding plate: "The Perfect Varnisher," or Manual of the Varnisher. By the Author of The New Perfect Dyer. In Paris, at Charles-Antoine Jombert père, Bookseller to the King, rue Dauphine, at the sign of Notre-Dame. 1771. The second part is a volume from 1770. From the same bookseller: "The Art of Making Indian Prints" in the English style, and of composing all the colors, good quality, suitable for Indian prints, followed by the method of making all the colors in liquid, for painting on silk fabrics, for miniatures, washes for plans, and for coloring wood, feathers, straw, horsehair, etc...
