"Webb Corbett Rock Crystal 19pc Intaglio Glass Drinking Service Pitcher & Glasses"
Webb Corbett “Rock Crystal” Intaglio Glass 19-Piece Drinking Service

England, late Victorian to Edwardian period, circa 1880–1920

This exceptional nineteen-piece drinking service was manufactured by Webb Corbett, one of England’s most respected producers of luxury cut crystal in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The set is executed in clear lead crystal and showcases the firm’s celebrated “rock crystal” style of deep wheel engraving, inspired by carved natural crystal and admired for its brilliance and sculptural depth.

The service comprises one large pitcher or ewer and three sets of six matching glasses, including goblets and tumblers, all unified by richly worked intaglio decoration. Each piece is extensively engraved with dense floral, foliate, and scrolling motifs that envelop the body of the glass, creating a striking interplay of light, texture, and reflection. The quality of the lead crystal is evident in its clarity, weight, and high refractive brilliance.

The pitcher features a wide, stable base and an applied glass handle, demonstrating both functional strength and refined craftsmanship. The varied glass forms allow the set to be used as a complete table service or displayed decoratively, where the depth of the engraving can be fully appreciated.

The entire service remains in very good antique condition, with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. Importantly, there are no chips, cracks, or repairs, making this an unusually well-preserved example of an elaborate Victorian–Edwardian cut-glass service.
