Beautiful 19th-century Louis XVI Style Gilt Frame For Approximately 40p. Visible Area 99.3 X 69.3 Cm
A beautiful late 19th-century Louis XVI style frame in wood and stucco, retaining its original gilt. The frame has a well-proportioned profile, neither too thin nor too wide (9.5 cm), with a rich and complete decoration that is very classic and elegant. The joinery with keyhole glazing is visible on the back. The frame is sound, with no weaknesses or camouflaged repairs. The original gilt is slightly tarnished with age but still very fresh. There is a small chip at one corner that needs repair, and minor wear to the gilding. It could accommodate a standard 40P (100 x 73 cm) canvas, although the visible area of the frame is slightly smaller than normal. The rabbet has been widened to fit a larger canvas. Dimensions: visible area 99.3 x 69.3 cm, rabbet 102.5 x 79.5 cm, width 9.5 cm, total 118 x 88 cm, depth 7 cm
