The spire of Notre-Dame de Paris was designed in the 19th century by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc during the major restoration of the cathedral beginning in 1844. The old medieval spire having been dismantled in 1786, the architect proposed a new one inspired by the Gothic style of the 13th century. Inaugurated in 1859, it measured approximately 96 meters high. Constructed of wood and covered in lead, it was surrounded by statues of the twelve apostles. This spire symbolized the revival of medieval heritage in the 19th century. It collapsed during the fire of April 15, 2019, before being rebuilt identically. Missing.
