- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. - The Virgin of Chiquinquirá, affectionately known as the "Queen and Patroness of Colombia," is at the heart of a story of faith that shapes the country's spiritual identity. Her story dates back to the 16th century, when an image of the Virgin with Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Andrew, painted in tempera on cotton canvas, deteriorated until it was almost gone. The decisive event, known as the "Miracle of the Resurrection," occurred in 1586, when a woman named María Ramos witnessed the painting miraculously regain its original colors and brilliance. This event transformed the city of Chiquinquirá into the most important pilgrimage center in the country, uniting Colombians in a devotion that transcends the religious to become a symbol of national unity and historical solace, culminating in his canonical coronation in 1919.- 56 x 79.5 cm / 67 x 90.5 with antique frame.
