Floral Motif. An elegant and precious antique silk fabric from Lyon, dating from the 19th century.

Measuring 250 cm high by 122 cm wide,
it offers a majestic presence, ideal for refined interiors or historical reenactments.
Graphic details and colorimetry: Background: deep faded pink with shimmering reflections that shift with the light, typical of 19th-century Lyon productions.
Motifs: symmetrical floral compositions intertwined with trompe-l'œil ribbons embroidered in a lace-like pattern. Colors used: ivory, moss green, old rose, saffron yellow, lilac, and touches of periwinkle blue.
Texture: jacquard-woven silk with a fine, wavy effect and a slight texture to the touch on the embroidery.
History Artistic Context: Lyon silk, part of European textile history since the 16th century, experienced its golden age in the 19th century, when Lyon became the world capital of silk.
This fabric testifies to the know-how of the canuts (silk weavers) and the floral ornamentation workshops influenced by the Louis XV style revisited with the romanticism of the 19th century.
The style of this piece evokes the late Baroque aesthetic, softened by the naturalistic floral influences of the end of the century. It incorporates elements found in the ornamentation of castles, palaces, and bourgeois townhouses of the period.
