"Fantasy Of Putti Around The Holy Family, Late 18th Century"
Oil on canvas, late 18th century, with two inscriptions on the back: "La Bire," a signature (?), and a label from the Rodez annex exhibition, no. 57. To be identified. At the foot of some architectural elements and verdant landscape, St. Joseph, the Virgin Mary, and the infant Jesus appear to be pausing. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, no fewer than 14 putti are trying to arrange fruit and decorations to make this rest as pleasant as possible. Note the overturned basket of fruit! There are some paint losses, but the canvas is in good condition, and the frame is original.
