Pair of wall sconces with strong theatrical presence, produced by the Florentine manufacturer Banci, circa 1980.

Each sconce is built around a parrot resting on a crystal flower vase, at the base of which a linear R7s halogen bulb is concealed. This upward‑directed light creates a grazing illumination that enhances the decorative crystal elements and highlights the central parrot.

In addition to the pair offered here, three other similar sconces are available; these three differ from the main pair by the presence of the two lateral electrified candles. It is particularly rare to assemble a set of five sconces of this type!

Founded in Florence, the Banci manufactory established itself from the mid‑20th century onward with creations that combine the Tuscan tradition of wrought iron with a decorative sensibility often inspired by French lighting design. The sconces presented here perfectly illustrate this dialogue between Italian craftsmanship and Parisian influence. In this specific case, the comparison naturally evokes the Parisian house Baguès, renowned for its “parrot” models, now true icons of French decorative lighting. While Baguès is characterized by a structured elegance rooted in Art Deco, Banci offers a more expressive interpretation, where movement and decorative abundance play a central role.
