Insignia Of The Veterans Of The First Empire "brothers In Arms" 19th

Badge of a First Empire Veterans Association, cast bronze eagle, red ribbon with two gold stripes. The ribbon is the original; each society had its own distinctive ribbon. Red, of course, was dominant, recalling the Legion of Honour. Very well described by Robert Moreau's book, number 20, "Insignia of the Veterans of the French Empire," Paris, 1987. I date this eagle to the mid-18th century, from the return of the Emperor's ashes. Uncommon with its original ribbon. Ribbon 45 mm x 40 mm, total length 85 mm. Private collection.
