Mount Ulmer, Antarctica, 1935 By Leland Curtis (1897-1989) - Official Artist of the American Antarctic Expeditions Large topographical survey of Mount Ulmer, Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica, executed in 1935. Oil on panel by Leland S. Curtis. This detailed survey followed Lincoln Ellsworth's polar expeditions, for which Curtis was the official U.S. artist. It is among the earliest records of the Sentinel Range, painted the year of its discovery. In good condition, it would benefit from restoration through light professional cleaning. Signed, dated, and titled. Presented in its original frame, with private collection inventory number on the reverse. Dimensions: approximately 51 x 41 cm (framed)
