Refined Coin Cabinet - Augsburg, Early 17th Century Ebonized Fruitwood With Silver Appliqués.
The frames are gilded wood.
Above the plinth area with a large drawer, two doors conceal the elaborate interior decoration with six small drawers flanking the central aedicule.
The stepped upper finish contains a compartment.
Below the section with the doors are two drawers, one of which contains a secret compartment and two inkwells.
The ornate, finely chiseled and broken appliqués on the fronts and the door frames shaped like lush bouquets of flowers are of the highest quality.
This beautifully preserved miniature cabinet was likely used to store precious objects, letters, and souvenirs.
Made in Augsburg in the late 17th century.
