Martin van Meytens (June 24, 1695 – March 23, 1770) was a Swedish-Austrian painter who painted members of the Austrian royal court such as Marie Antoinette, Maria Theresa of Austria, Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, the emperor's family, and members of the local aristocracy. His pictorial style inspired many other painters to paint in a similar format. Frans Stefan, known in the Southern Netherlands as Frans van Lorreinen, was Duke of Lorraine as Frans III Stefan from 1729 to 1737, Grand Duke of Tuscany as Frans II Stefan or Frans Stefan from 1737 to 1765, and Holy Roman Emperor as Frans I Stefan from 1745 to 1765. Born on December 8, 1708, in Lunéville, France. Died on August 18, 1765, in Hofburg, Innsbruck, Austria. Grandchildren: Emperor Francis II. Wife: Maria Theresa of Austria (married from 1736 to 1765).
