Large Louis XVI Style Overmantel Mirror - 19th Century
Large Louis XVI style trumeau mirror, from the Napoleon III period. Oil on canvas in a medallion, depicting a pastoral scene. The painting's frame is carved wood with gilded foliage, embellished at the bottom with a large painted carved wooden ribbon and laurel leaves. The cornice is adorned with carved and gilded wooden drops, as well as beading that finishes the upper section. On each side are gilded carved wooden rosettes. The frame of the mirror (replaced) is decorated with palmettes, also in gilded carved wood. The gray patina, as well as all the green moldings, are original and have been refreshed by us. No woodwork restoration.
