An elegant pair of finely chased and gilded bronze andirons, dating from the 19th century. They feature a rich decoration of foliate scrolls and rocaille volutes, typical of the Neo-Louis XV style, resting on a gracefully undulating base with scrolled feet. Each andiron is surmounted by a winged griffin rendered with a great sense of movement and detail, with outstretched wings and finely modeled musculature. The gilding, likely mercury-gilded, displays an antique patina with natural wear indicative of age and use, without detracting from the legibility of the decoration. Available now in our showroom.
