An Ebonized Wood Cabinet With Ivory Panels, 17th-18th Century
Ivory plaques, set against the black ground of the ebonized wood, carved with figural scenes, landscapes, floral and animal motifs, arranged in rectangular, oval, and shaped panels. At the center stands out a larger figural scene, serving as the compositional focal point. The interior features a complex arrangement of small drawers, likewise decorated with ivory panels engraved with architectural and figural scenes. The central inner door conceals secret compartments.
