Sèvres Porcelain Plate, Capraire Service, Early 19th Century
A Sèvres porcelain plate from the Capraire service, Empire period. The central decoration features a gilt rosette and scattered gilt flowers on a white ground. The rim is decorated with garlands of foliage and flowers on a blue ground. The Sèvres Capraire service was delivered to the Tuileries Palace for Charles X. Impressed marks J and T and the number 15, diameter 23.7 cm. The central mark of the Sèvres manufactory has been intentionally erased. Some wear to the gilding, signs of age, a small restored chip on the rim, visible only on the back. This decoration is still used at Sèvres, notably for the Élysée Palace dinner services.
