"Ivory Netsuke Depicting Two Children Playing (edo/meiji Period)"
This exquisite netsuke, carved from ivory and measuring 2.8 cm in height, dates from the late Edo period (19th century). It depicts two young boys, or karako, captured in a moment of spontaneous play. Despite its small size, the piece impresses with its meticulous detail, particularly the traditional motifs incised on their clothing. The base bears an artist's signature beside a finely carved fan. It is a precious example of Japanese miniature craftsmanship, combining an authentic patina with great technical mastery.
