Us Officer's Sword, Late 19th Century.
Late 19th-century US officer's sword, circa 1880/90.
Cast brass hilt with a single quillon, pommel with the American eagle. Guard with eagle against a background of flags. Shagreen grip with wire wrapping. Double-edged blade by the "Armstrong Company Chicago," engraved on one side with the letters US and on the other with an eagle and a shield bearing the American flag motif, and floral designs. Steel scabbard with two brass lockets. Good overall condition. Signs of wear and patina. Please note small oxidation spots on the blade. See photos.
