Pair Of Portraits Of "cherbourg Bourgeois", 1814

Pair of portraits representing a couple of "bourgeois of Cherbourg" and dated on the back 1814.

In their original frames, with the period glass, these portraits have never been removed from their frames and each bears on the back an inscription indicating:

- For the man: "Augustin Sostel, son of the late Thimothée, and of Jeanne Marie Mauger, bourgeois of Cherbourg, born on November 2, 1749, married on September 22, 1787, to Bonne Marguerite Bernardinne Planquette, daughter of Philippe and Marie Contrastin, bourgeois of Cherbourg, portrait taken aged 65 years, 1814".

- For the woman: "Good Marguerite Bernardinne Planquette, daughter of Philippe and Marie Contrastin, bourgeois of Cherbourg, born on October 4, 1755, married to Augustin Sostel, Captain in the merchant navy on September 22, 1787, portrait taken at the age of 59. 1814. Died in Montivillier (?) on July 22, 1823.
